Happy Birthday, Madison!

One year ago today, I was in labor and ready to have a baby! We woke up at 6:00 AM as usual to get ready for work, I of course was a house and was ready to have a baby! Andrew leaned over to give me a good morning kiss and say good morning to the baby as per the usual then. He patted my belly and said "Okay, Madison, you can come any time now, we are ready for you." I laughed, said "yeah, right." I waddled into the bathroom and heard a pop, my water broke all over the floor.
I opened the bathroom door, Andrew was still sitting on the edge of the bed, kind of waking up. I said, "Um, honey, either I just lost control of my bladder, or my water broke."
"What?! You've got to be kidding me!"

I opened the door and there I stood in a lovely pool of water. Andrew went and woke up his sister, Ashley, who was living with us at the time. That is honestly, the fastest I've EVER seen her get out of bed and be alert! I called the doctor, who, of course, said to get to the hospital.

But, then I panicked. I needed a shower and needed to shave my legs! I took the world's fastest shower and then sat on the edge of the tub desperately trying to reach my legs in an attempt to hide the fact that it had been about 3 months since I could reach my legs to shave.

We hopped in the car with the bags and off we went to the ER to check in. Andrew had me sitting on a pile of towels since we didn't realize that your water keeps regenerating and that if you splashed, you would continue to leak and splash up until you give birth! I scarfed down some granola bars as I knew that they would not let me eat until she was born and I was HUNGRY!

At the hospital they get us into a room and me hooked up to a million monitors, and once I was all settled, I suddenly realized that I had to pee! Again, something I didn't realize - I guess you don't ponder those parts when imagining giving birth to your baby! Off I waddled to the bathroom with a nurse following me mopping up water behind me the whole way. It was quite funny in hindsight!

Fast forward 14 and a half hours and 20 minutes of pushing and the doctor handed me my beautiful baby, Madison.

Madison - you are the love of our lives, you brighten our day just with your smile and your personality grows each day. There isn't a day that goes by, that you don't make me laugh at least once with your great sense of humor and silly antics! I love you. Daddy loves you. Know that always and forever. Thank you for choosing us as your parents. Love, Mommy and Daddy
